High cheekbones and full cheeks are associated with youth and beauty, however, as we age the fat pockets in the face slide downwards (thanks to ageing and gravity) and we lose this plumpness and volume causing the cheeks to look flatter and sunken.
High cheekbones and full cheeks are associated with youth and beauty, however, as we age the fat pockets in the face slide downwards (thanks to ageing and gravity) and we lose this plumpness and volume causing the cheeks to look flatter and sunken.
This can also impact on other areas of the face further down, such as creating prominent naso-labial (nose-to-mouth) lines or adding to jowls along the jawline. Often by addressing the lost volume in the upper face and cheeks, we can improve the appearance of the whole face.
Dermal fillers can be used for a cheek augmentation treatment to add volume and restore their youthful appearance.
Cheek augmentation with dermal fillers allows us to achieve something which was once only possible with the surgical implantation of cheek implants.
By adding back volume to the area using specially-created, thicker hyaluronic acid based dermal filler gels we can draw more moisture to the cheeks and create an area of increased density which restores the youthful plumpness of the cheek fat area and raises the cheekbones higher, creating a naturally beautiful and youthful appearance.
Contouring the cheeks in this way with targeted placement of dermal filler can achieve dramatic results when rejuvenating the face and is often combined with other treatments such as wrinkle relaxing injections or a liquid face lift.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in our skin which is produced in reduced quantities by the body as we age. By placing hyaluronic acid based filler products deep under the skin of the cheek, we can replace that which the body has lost. Results appear natural and can be long-lasting, needing repeating after up to a year.
Dermal fillers are injected into the cheek to restore lost volume and contour and shape the face. The dermal fillers we use are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance and is highly biocompatible and biodegradable, which means it is naturally absorbed by the
body over time.
If you lack volume and definition in your cheeks and cheekbone area, or have lost it over time, then cheek augmentation might be suitable for you. This procedure offers a suitable alternative to surgical cheek and chin implants. It is primarily indicated for:

Dr Wakil uses a special instrument called a cannula to place the product in the cheeks, this makes treatment more comfortable and minuses any trauma as it is effectively the equivalent to a blunt needle. We can apply a topical anaesthetic or numbing cream to minimise any discomfort and many of the dermal filler products that we use include lidocaine local anaesthetic within the syringe so placement is often pain free for most.
Immediately after treatment, you may notice some swelling, slight tenderness or mild rednessat the injection point. Bruising is also possible, but the technique used minimises the chances of this. Any side effects will be temporary and resolve within a few days
