Plasma is the fourth state of energy – after solid, liquid and gas – and can be used to superficially vapourise the very surface layer of the skin.
Plasma energy from the Plexr device is used to cause a process called sublimation which results in the tightening of excess or lax skin, which can be used to target areas of the labia majora and perineum (area between the vagina and anus) to reshape and restore a more youthful aspect, correct asymmetries, and even address pigmentation concerns.
The Plexr delivers small amounts of plasma energy to the skin, which vapourises the skin cells in a small dot, leaving healthy tissue surrounding the dot. This stimulates a healing response in the body, rejuvenating and tightening the tissue in the vaginal areas treated.
Plexr vaginal rejuvenation is one of a combination of treatments available as part of The O Concept™, developed by Dr Sherif Wakil who is a pioneer in sexual aesthetics. Designed to provide a specialised solution to improve and rebuild sexual well-being, many treatments, including plasma sublimation can be combined to treat female sexual dysfunction.
Plasma energy works by exploiting the difference in voltage between a person’s skin and the device, this means that a small electrical arc or discharge of plasma energy can be created which causes sublimation or vapourisation of the fluid and components of the superficial layers (epidermis) of the skin, without heating or damaging any of the surrounding skin.
Treatment is delivered in small dots, so that each dot is surrounded by healthy tissue, in the same way as fractional laser resurfacing treatments. The controlled micro-wounds created trigger a natural healing response, instant tissue tightening and the stimulation to produce new skin cells or collagen and elastin in the area.
Your suitability for plasma energy vaginal rejuvenation with Plexr sublimation with be determined during a consultation with our doctor to assess the current laxity, volume loss and skin condition in your vulva area. A full medical history will also be taken to ensure your suitability.
If you have experienced tissue sagging in the labia majora due to ageing, weight loss or childbirth, then you may be a good candidate for vaginal rejuvenation using Plexr.
Depending on the correction desired and required, a combination of treatments, as part of The O Concept™ may be recommended. This could also include Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy or labia fillers, for example.
If you are pregnant or breast feeding, you will not be suitable for this treatment, until after this stage in your life.
Prior to treatment, you should be in general good health and without any active skin infections or diseases in the vaginal area which could make you unsuitable for treatment, including sexually transmitted diseases or the herpes virus (thrush).
You will be required to come for treatment at a point in your menstrual cycle when you are not bleeding.
Suitable candidates will also be required to completely shave the area 48 hours prior to treatment. You should avoid having any waxing or laser hair removal treatments in the area prior to the Plexr treatment.
To avoid discomfort during application of the plasma energy to the skin’s surface, treatment is performed after application of a topical anaesthetic or numbing cream. Additional local anaesthesia by injectable lidocaine, or skin cooling can also be used, if required, depending on individual sensitivity to pain.
Treatment with Plexr for vaginal rejuvenation takes approximately 15-30 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. An additional 20-30 minutes will be required for the application of the numbing cream to take effect.
Because this is a non-surgical approach to labiaplasty to remodel and reshape the labia majora, there are no stitches or significant bleeding with this procedure.
You should expect swelling in the area for several days, with the formation of tiny scabs on the surface of the skin. It is important that you do not scratch or pick the scabs as you risk causing infection, scarring or skin pigmentation changes. The scabbing will start to shed after 4 to 10 days. Any pain experienced can be managed with over-the-counter pain medications, such as paracetamol. You should avoid sexual intercourse and strenuous exercise for a week after the procedure to allow the area to heal.
You will be provided with appropriate aftercare in terms of washing and caring for the labial skin in the days following the procedure.
One treatment session with Plexr for plasma vaginal rejuvenation is usually recommended to achieve the desired results, but additional treatments can be performed after a few months, if areas require further tightening.
The delivery of the plasma energy sets off a natural healing response in the body meaning that new skin cells will be produced as the area heals and continues to repair with the production of new collagen and elastin over time. Results in terms of tightening will be apparent immediately and will continue to improve over the weeks and months after completion of the procedure. Expect to see the final outcome after approximately three months. Your doctor will review the results with you.
